I've just started trying out a few things from Reprise in Evanston. Alex the owner takes time to consult with new-to-coffee or new-to-the store folks from what I've seen. Very reasonable prices, and my go-to if I'm not looking to break the bank. Nothing crazy in terms of experimental roasts, or in terms of pricing either. A few regular favorites are nearly always in rotation. If I'm looking for a sure bet, I always return to Maple Leaf in Roselle: good variation of light, medium and dark roast offerings including espresso and decaf roasts, single origins and blends. I'll comment on places that stand-out in either a good or bad way. I've tried beans from many Chicagoland roasters and I'm always looking for new places.
